I've been involved in the game of volleyball for 30+ years as both a coach and a player. I got my start playing competitively in a local coed league at Edmonds CC when I was 22 or 23 after playing some gym rat v-ball at some open gyms previous to that. Shortly after my intro to coed volleyball I picked up with a local men's team in the area where I played with the same group of guys for about 15 years on a USVBA team (now USAV). I got my start coaching organized volleyball at the high school level when I was 29 or 30 . I had a friend that was helping coach at Shorecrest High School in north Seattle and I had a couple of weeks off of work and she asked me to give her a hand coaching the team . Well I ended up sticking around for the rest of the season and the following year I applied for the head coaching job at Shorecrest and got it. I completed my 22nd year at Shorecrest this last fall.

I believe that players get the most out of the game when they give their best effort. I believe also that there are life lessons to be learned through sports which hopefully the players will be able to use as they grow as people. I also put a lot of emphasis on learning to be a good teammate and putting the team before the individual player. Education 2 years community college Trade school Coaching Certifications CAP level 2 certified Playing Experience Men's level A/AA for 20 years Local coed league 15 years Outdoor doubles grass/sand Coaching Experience Head coach Shorecrest High School 1988 - present Head coach WVBA 1998 - present Coaching Highlights This is a tough one since there've been so many over 22 years and they fall into two categories. 1st category Top 4 finishes 3 out of 4 years at the high school state tournament plus many league and district titles Top 5 finish at USAV nationals (American) and placing two players on the All-tournament Team Opportunity to travel to Brazil with the international team in 2007 2nd category Seeing players become a success in volleyball and in life, no better feeling as a coach. |
