Generation IX VB Documentary Aired on Feb. 15th

Jack and Leslie Hamann's production of Generation IX aired on Feb. 15th

SEATTLE, WA - Feb. 16, 2007
Jack and Leslie Hamann, both local volleyball aficianados, have written and produced a very special television documentary that aired on February 15th on KCTS in HDTV.

Jack is a well-known author, television producer, volleyball coach and former WVBA parent as well as a current WVBA board member. Leslie is the Garfield HS head volleyball coach and former UCLA player. Their daughter Lauren played volleyball at WVBA and later joined the UCLA rowing crew where she enjoyed a nice career on the water.

Jack and Leslie have been working feverishly on this production over the past two years. You may have seen them with a camera around the Bank of America arena during Husky matches the past two seasons. They even found a way to include some footage from the 2006 Emerald City Classic!

This film centers around the subject of Title IX, the Federal law requiring equal access to sports opportunities for both genders passed in 1972. The film focuses on three players at the University of Washington and their coach Jim McLaughlin. All three players were born after the effects of Title IX were in place, and this film investigates how the generation of post Title IX athletes are doing.

A good portion of the 1 hour film was shot in China last summer during the University of Washington volleyball team's trip in June.

Congratulations to Jack and Leslie Hamann on the success of this outstanding and important project.
